Have you noticed that there is an active East Cooper Democrats organization and a West Ashley Democrats organization plus Democratic groups on James Island/Folly Beach and in North Charleston? Obviously, what is missing is an active Peninsula Democrats organization. So, let's get to work to reinvigorate the Charleston Peninsula Democrats! If you live on the peninsula and you are interested in helping to organize Democrats on the peninsula-especially in your own precinct, please join us! Or, if you are interested in helping even though you don't live on the peninsula, we need your help too.
Our goal is to get the 21 precincts on the peninsula organized well in advance of the 2012 official precinct reorganization As you probably know, the precinct organization is the first step in the Presidential nominating process for 2012. If you are interested in going to the state and national conventions next year this is a great way to get involved early. There's also the Mayor's race and city council seats up for election in just a few months, and even thought the elections are non-partisan we still need to do all we can to elect good Democrats to those offices.
We have the tools and the technology we need to be successful-now all we need is are some dedicated Democrats to make it happen. We can't let every other area of the county continue to out-organize us!

Scott falls short
I am somewhat skeptical about the economic wisdom of beach replenishment in general. However, my doubt after Rep. Tim Scott's (long overdue) visit to Folly Beach had nothing to do with the re-nourishing procedure; it was doubt in his ability to, simply put, do his job.
Tim Scott was elected to be a liaison between his constituents and the federal government. His job is to evaluate, advocate, negotiate and collaborate on our behalf, and to ensure that we receive what we are due from the federal government.
Obviously, Mr. Scott has a lack of confidence in the system, his employer and his ability to perform as an employee of the government. Apparently just voting no, as instructed by his party, does nothing to develop the skills and relationships necessary to perform his duties as our congressman.
